SPARK 2016 Engages the Entire Community

March 18, 2016

On April 29, Center for Independent Futures will celebrate our tenth annual SPARK gala, showcasing a decade of hopes and dreams. This evening under the stars brings together our supporters, participants, staff, boards, and new connections.

As we prepare for the event, our entire community plays a role in making the event a success. Our Auxiliary Board of young professionals leads the charge in planning, supported by office staff. The Advisory Council, made up of participants who give back to their community and share ideas and perspective, help select the theme, plan details of the evening, and volunteer at the event.

We’re grateful to the Evanston, Northshore, and Chicagoland businesses who support us by contributing to silent auction. Some of the participating businesses employ our participants, like Duxler Complete Auto Care, the McGaw YMCA, Lou Malnati’s, and more. Some auction items, like paintings by our Art Club participants or hand-painted picture frames from Frames by Devora, highlight the unique gifts of individuals. Center for Independent Futures participants use their community connections to secure auction items and other support for the event.

SPARK 2016 will bring together all of these community efforts on April 29, 2016, from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston. This starlit evening will feature exciting live and silent auctions, an open bar, dinner, live music, and dancing. Check back soon for online ticket purchasing and more auction details.

All proceeds from SPARK directly contribute to our programming, services, and sustainability, supporting a vision of the future where individuals with disabilities have access to all opportunities of all full life. If you’d like to get involved, contact Niki Moe Horrell at (847) 328-2044 or

SPARK 2018 is on Friday, April 27!

Since 2007, Center for Independent Futures’ SPARK gala has showcased and supported our community in style.  This spring fundraiser is hosted at the Hilton Orrington in downtown Evanston, providing a beautiful setting for cocktails, a silent auction, dinner, live music, and dancing.

The evening is ignited by the SPARK of the Center for Independent Futures community. Guests don’t just hear about our impact but also witness it in action, from the lively dinner conversation to the packed dance floor at the end of the night. At SPARK, participants celebrate their own independence and the connections of their community alongside friends, family members, and other supporters. All proceeds from this event, our largest fundraiser of the year, directly contribute to programming, services, and sustainability to support individuals with disabilities and their families to access the skills and opportunities of a full life.
