Center for Independent Futures (CIF) always celebrates Halloween in style. This year, our annual Halloween Party was bigger and better with an exciting new venue. As previously announced, The Woman’s Club of Evanston (WCE) selected CIF as its One-Time Clubhouse Usage Beneficiary for 2014. CIF chose to use this grant to gather individuals from the Arts of Life, Center for Enriched Living, Our Place, and CIF communities together for an incredible Halloween evening at WCE’s historic Clubhouse venue.

In this elegant setting, the Halloween Party was a smashing success! On October 31st, the Clubhouse was transformed into a green, purple, and candy-filled Halloween party spot. Just as the freezing rain, sleet, snow, and gale force winds couldn’t keep trick-or-treaters inside, it certainly did not keep CIF’s Halloween Party goers away either. Nearly 100 individuals gathered for a night of pizza, salad, candy, dancing, games, and the biggest costume contest CIF has ever seen! A snowman named Olaf, Mario from Nintendo, a vampire, super heroes from around the galaxy, and celebrities were just a few of the folks that showed up for the fun night. The costume contest became a parade of characters as everyone took the stage to display their costumes. Winners in the different categories became the stars of the night. The event brought CIF’s mission to life by promoting inclusion, building community, and offering a place to make connections and form new relationships. And above all else, it was really fun!

This generous gift from the WCE is especially meaningful given the strong parallels between CIF and the WCE, each similarly born through the efforts of visionary women sharing common interests and concerns for the community. We are so grateful to WCE for this making this wonderful space available.
