Support Lindsay's Active Life on #GivingTuesday

November 2, 2015

On paper, Lindsay Tonyan is an individual with disabilities. In the community, Lindsay is known as an artist, volunteer, animal lover, employee, and friend. Her involvement in Center for Independent Futures’ Activities Program supports and expands her full life.

Lindsay has participated in activities for six years, trying everything from bowling to Dating Club. With Center for Independent Futures, she has cheered on the Cubs at Wrigley Field and cycled down Lake Shore Drive during Bike the Drive. A regular at Social Hour and Ladies’ Night, Lindsay says her favorite activities are events that tap into her self-expression. “Art Club lets me be creative, and so does HeARTwords,” Lindsay says.

She finds opportunities for leadership and collaboration through Volunteer Club and the Advisory Council, a group of Center for Independent Futures participants who plan fundraisers and share ideas. “I like helping out the community and giving back,” Lindsay explains.

With the support of her Center for Independent Futures life skills tutors, Lindsay balances her social life with two part-time jobs. The activities program keeps Lindsay connected to her community, rounding out a full and active life.

On #GivingTuesday, December 1, you can join Center for Independent Futures to provide these enriching opportunities to even more individuals. The Activities Program depends on your support.
