Preparing to Live Safely on your Own
Building our confidence and learning new skills is an integral part of living on our own. Having our own space makes us feel good in many ways and recognizing our responsibilities to live independently is key. Discovering how to stay informed, advocating for oneself, and understanding our rights and responsibilities creates a sense of belonging. Individuals will also explore volunteer opportunities, setting goals, our existing personal support networks, and how to create new ones. We will learn about budgeting and grocery shopping, as well as meal planning. Keeping our clothes and spaces clean and well cared for. Understanding toxic and flammable substances, when to call 911, and keeping ourselves safe by locking up is also covered.
