About the Presenters

Brian Rubin, J.D., is the founder of Rubin Law who has been practicing law since 1978. He is also the father of three children, including a son who has autism. Since 1982, Brian Rubin has focused his law practice on serving the legal and future planning needs of fellow families of children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, as well as mental illness. President of the Special Needs Alliance, Brian Rubin has served on the Advisory Councils and Boards of many organizations serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Sherri Schneider, QIDP, has dedicated herself to helping individuals with disabilities and their families for over thirty years. Beginning as a social worker in a CILA, she developed expertise in understanding government benefits. Today, she meets with families to assess their situations and pursue their best options for benefit assistance programs, personally guiding them through the application process. Her seminars are invaluable to families as they navigate the arena of government benefits.

Benjamin Rubin, J.D., L.L.M., (Benji) Brian Rubin’s youngest son, has been a member of Rubin Law since 2010. Profoundly shaped by having a brother with special needs, Benji serves as the President of SIBS (Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters). Benji’s personal experience as a sibling offers a unique perspective into the responsibilities that come with caring for a sibling with special needs. As an adult, his present and future responsibilities regarding his brother’s care are a concern that he shares with all brothers and sisters of individuals with special needs.
